Weekend At Lake Quinault

We may have found our new favorite spot --- some secluded cabins at Lake Quinault located on the Olympic Peninsula near the Pacific Coast in Washington.

These were the evening and daytime views from our cabin during the three days we spent here.
Two of the reasons trips to the lake or the coast are more fun than ever!

"Nap Time" (for the kids anyway...)
How can two hours go by so quickly???
Views from inside our cabin.

Lauren loved going out on Lake Quinault in the row boat. We did a lot of exploring of the shores across the lake checking out bear tracks, frogs, etc. Plus it was really neat watching the Silver Salmon constantly jumping.

Our relaxing veranda overlooking Lake Quinault.

The cabin view down from the beach and from the lake. Nestled in the trees and very private and peaceful. This resort only has six cabins spread out over acreage. It is privately run but owned by the National Forest Service.

Hiking With Dad

Come one Dad! Lets check this trail out!

Checking out a great big tree.

Cool bridge in the Quinault Rain Forest and another huge tree.

While Mommy & Olivia stayed at the cabin Daddy & I went for a couple of hikes.

We hiked in the Quinault Rainforest and explored around some of the giant trees.

Later we drove up to Higley Peak in The Olympic Mountain range and then hiked the last stretch up to the top. The views up there were amazing. Even in September some of the peaks of the Olympic Mountains still had snow on them.

Daily Life - Lauren

Lauren loves her letters and numbers. She knows her alphabet and can count to about 20.
After working with the alphabet it is time for some stretching and gymnastics moves...
Last summer-dip.
Lauren loves looking at things on the computer. Her favorite is the official web-site for the movie "Cars" with their interactive games and the show-room (http://adisney.go.com/disneyvideos/animatedfilms/cars/main.html)
This is Lauren's face when she's not getting her way. The face is usually accompanied by the phrase "I want...."

Daily Life - Olivia

Olivia is growing like a weed. She is now, at 13 months, filling out her 12 month clothing "quite well" and we are starting on the size clothing for 18 month olds.
Daily life for Olivia is all about exploring. She has made herself 100% at home. The dining room is a great place in which to play...
Tall bar-stools are fun to climb.... and such activity keeps your parents "on their toes" at all times....
Booster seats are great FUN! (Lets hope Olivia continues to feel that way...)
Lauren's little table and chairs are just right according to Olivia. If she can irritate Lauren by testing them out then that is just an extra bonus...
