Afghan War Memorial

This is a memorial in Ust-Kamenogorsk to commemorate the Russian soldiers that were killed in war during the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. Kazakhstan gained it's independence from The Soviet Union in 1990. Up until that point they were part of the Soviet Union. At the center of the memorial is a flame that burns eternally. The memorial backs up to the Irtysh River.
